This dear woman, appropriately named Mercy, was a hospital chaplain in Kijabe, Kenya for many years. She and a large group of "lady chaplains" that she recruited would go from town to town and visit people, and encourage people, adults and especially children, who needed medical attention, to visit one of the three wonderful Christian hospitals in the area. In the hospital, Mercy would go from ward to ward, praying with patients, and offering Good News Coloring Books in Swahili and Somali and many other Kenyan languages to the children. In this photo, Mercy read through the entire Swahili booklet with the little girl, and then asked her if she wanted to pray. She said yes. In a sunny courtyard, older women at this table and the next were listening intently. As they finished praying, everyone had tears in their eyes and some of the women were nodding and smiling.
Mercy has given out thousands of GNCBs over the years. This is one of the many ways people use the Good News Coloring Book for one-on-one evangelism and hospital ministry.
The children usually start coloring immediately, and then read the books later (if they can read). Adults usually read the book first. Then some of them will color in the pictures. Who doesn't like coloring?
Right: This mother in a hospital in Kenya reads the book while her daughter sleeps.
